This is a short introduction for those who want to see both wildlife and the coast of Namibia in a short time. The distances between the destinations are long, but the trip is worth it. This 5-Day Wildlife Etosha & Coast Guided Safari can be done alone, in a small group, or in a larger group.
Day 1: Windhoek to Etosha National Park
Your guide will meet you at your accommodation at 9:30 am to explain the details of your safari. At 10:00 am, you will start the drive to Etosha National Park. You will have lunch along the way.
You will arrive late in the afternoon, and while entering the park, you can start spotting animals. After checking in, you will meet your guide at the main area and go on a game drive in your private vehicle to visit nearby waterholes. If you are lucky, you may see predators.
Otherwise, you will see zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, and many types of antelopes. Later, you will freshen up and have dinner.
After dinner, you can relax and watch animals visiting the area before resting for the night.
Day 2: Etosha National Park
Today is for a full day of game viewing in the central part of Etosha National Park. The park gates open at sunrise. After an early breakfast, you will start your game drive at sunrise.
Early morning is a good time for seeing animals, especially predators. If you are lucky, you might see some hunting. You will have lunch on the way.
In the afternoon, you will continue your drive and watch for animals as you return to Okaukuejo Resort. You will get there just before sunset, in time to enjoy the floodlit waterhole, a great spot to watch animals come to drink.
After freshening up, you will have dinner. After dinner, you can spend time watching the animals at the floodlit waterhole before resting for the night.
Day 3: Etosha National Park to Swakopmund
After breakfast, you will start your drive at 7:30 am. Today you will travel to the Skeleton Coast, a scenic and wild part of Namibia. You will pass the town of Outjo and then drive through Damaraland before reaching the coast.
The Skeleton Coast is known for its harsh mountains and empty beaches. You will see some shipwrecks along the shore and can stop for photos. Lunch will be served on the way.
You will arrive late afternoon in Swakopmund. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the town on foot and enjoying the sea breeze. Later, freshen up for dinner at one of the town’s popular restaurants.
Day 4: Swakopmund
This morning you will take a half-day tour to Sandwich Harbour. You will meet your local guide and explore this area where the desert meets the sea. Lunch will be served during the tour. After you return to Swakopmund, the rest of the day is free for you to relax or enjoy other activities at your own cost. Dinner will be at a well-known restaurant.
Day 5: Swakopmund to Windhoek
After breakfast, you will drive back to Windhoek. On the way, you will stop at the Okahandja Craft Market for some last-minute shopping. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in Windhoek. Here, you will say your final goodbyes to your guide.
