10-DAY BEST OF NAMIBIA SAFARI

This 10-day safari gives you a rare chance to visit some of Namibia’s best places. From the tall red dunes of Sossusvlei and the quiet beaches along the Skeleton Coast to the rich wildlife in Etosha National Park, this trip is truly worth taking.

On this safari, expect game drives in Etosha, kayaking with seals and dolphins off the Skeleton Coast, searching for desert-adapted elephants, and much more.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Windhoek to Sossusvlei

You will be picked up from your hotel or Windhoek International Airport and begin the journey to Sossusvlei. You will travel through the Khomas Highlands and then down the escarpments to the vast Namib Desert. There will be a short stop for a picnic lunch.

By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at your lodge to check in. Today’s activities may include visiting the centuries-old Sesriem Canyon and the tall red dunes of Sossusvlei. A trained guide will be with you. Or, you may choose to relax and enjoy the desert views from the lodge.

Day 2: Sossusvlei excursion

Start your day with a good breakfast, then travel to Namib Naukluft National Park with your guide. You will set off early before sunrise to see the dunes in the soft morning light. The Namib Desert has some of the world’s highest free-standing dunes. Your guide will explain how the desert formed and how plants and animals survive in these dry conditions.

Enjoy a picnic brunch under a shady camel-thorn tree. Then, continue exploring Namib Naukluft Park’s sights like Sossusvlei, Elim Dune, Dead Vlei, and more. Afterward, return to the lodge to rest and prepare for the next day.

Day 3: Hot air balloon safari & transfer to Swakopmund

Take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over the Namib-Naukluft and Sossusvlei dunes. After the flight, travel to Swakopmund. On the way, enjoy views of Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons. Pass through Walvis Bay on the coast before reaching Swakopmund. Once there, explore the town and waterfront. For dinner, enjoy seafood at one of the town’s best restaurants.

Day 4: Explore Swakopmund – Adventure capital of Namibia

With your guide, head to Walvis Bay for kayaking. Here, you can see Cape fur seals, pelicans, dolphins, flamingos, and other seabirds. Visit Pelican Point and its lighthouse. You may also take a motorized boat trip with snacks of fresh oysters and local sparkling wine.

Explore Walvis Bay’s waterfront before returning to Swakopmund for a relaxed afternoon. Other fun activities in Swakopmund include quad biking, camel rides, and skydiving.

Day 5: To Damaraland

Leave Swakopmund and travel to Damaraland, a remarkable area in Namibia. Pass by Brandberg, the country’s tallest mountain at 2,573 meters, where you can enjoy wide views and wildlife.

If time allows, visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stay overnight at one of the best lodges in Damaraland.

Day 6: Day excursion in Damaraland

Go on a game drive exploring river valleys and searching for desert-adapted elephants. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Continue exploring local sights and then return to the lodge or camp for a guided nature walk.

Day 7: To Southern Etosha National Park

Travel from Damaraland to the southern part of Etosha National Park. Arrive early to enjoy an afternoon game drive in your comfortable safari vehicle.

Days 8-9: Explore Etosha National Park

Spend two days on guided game drives in Etosha National Park, home to over 114 mammals and 340 bird species. You may see cheetahs, warthogs, zebras, hyenas, kudus, elands, gemsbok, black-faced impalas, leopards, honey badgers, and more. Game drives will be in the morning and afternoon, with lunch in the wild.

Day 10: Transfer to Windhoek

Leave Etosha National Park and drive about 4 to 5 hours to Windhoek. Arrive in the early afternoon and catch your flight home, marking the end of your memorable 10-day safari in Namibia.
