Isibania border

Isibania border also known as Isibania border is a border found in between Kenya and Tanzania. On the Kenyan side its found within Migory county while on the Tanzanian side it’s located at Isibania town. Unlike Namanga border that’s commonly used for crossing between Kenya and Tanzania, Isibania border is less congested but it’s the best route for tourists who want to connect between the western part of Serengeti national park bin Tanzania and Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya.

Isibania border is located a few kilometers from the spectacular lake Victoria which is the source of the world’s longest river and world’s largest tropical lake as well as Africa’s largest lake by area. The lake is found between Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Crossing Isibania border is not hard all you have to do is make sure that you have all the required documents for border crossings and some of these can be seen below to guide you on your trip.

Yellow fever vaccination card

While crossing Isibania border, you will be required to present a valid  yellow fever vaccination card. It’s required for all foreigners including east African citizens to provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate,  citizens over 1 year of age traveling from an infected area will also need to present a vaccination certificate.

Valid passport/travel documents

East African citizens will be required to show valid passports or alternative travel documents with t5heir national identification cards whereas foreign non residents and foreign residents must have a valid passport with at least 6 month period of validity when entering the country.

East African tourists visa

The East African tourists visa is issued to East African citizens moving within Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda with a single visa without having to issue another one from another country and no fees charged. Foreign residents with evidence of working permits can also acquire an interstate pass at the border. The visa is valid for a period of 90 days and also acts as a multiple entry visa as long as your traveling within the three countries but once you travel out of these countries them you will need to apply for another visa.

Visas

All foreign residents will require a visa at the Isibania border crossing. There are many types of Visas in Kenya and Tanzania and you must posses a valid one. If you’re traveling from Tanzania to Kenya, it’s important to note that Kenya doesn’t allow Visa on arrival payment therefore you have to apply for an e-visa on their Kenyan migration website and acquire one that you will present at the border. On the other hand, Tanzania allows e-visas and visa on arrival payment as well. The cost for visas will depend on the type of visa you want to get and the country of acquiring. Some countries are excepted from visas in both countries while others need special approval from the director .More countries are most likely to join the east African visa in the near future.

Illegals

Ensure that you don’t have any illegals, bags will be scanned through a metal detector and checked at the border crossing.

Driving

Driving across borders will require you to have a log book and driving license. You will have to  sign in some forms granting you a seven day period to drive for free. After seven day elapse and you still want to drive within a foreign country you will have to pay a fee of $20 per month to allow you drive, after payments you will be given a form a local revenue authority. In case you don’t own a car you’re driving, you must present an authorization letter from the owner of the vehicle.

Serengeti national park

Serengeti national park is one of the most visited tourism destinations in the world and in Tanzania as well.  The park covers an area of about 30,000 kilometers squared, it’s home to one of the most spectacular wildlife migration in the world.

The great Wildebeests migration takes place from Serengeti national park in Tanzania and Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya. Every year, millions of  Wildebeests, thousands of zebras, gazelles and other antelopes start a journey from Serengeti to Masai Mara. The spectacular drama is more interesting at the Grumeti and Mara rivers when crocodiles lie in wait to catch a meal while predators like lions, cheetahs and leopards follow up closely to catch prey.

Masai Mara game reserve

Masai Mara national park neighbors Serengeti national park. Masai Mara game reserve is found at Narok county in Kenya driving it’s name from the famous Masai pastoralists people that have called this place home for thousands of years coexisting with wildlife.
