Detailed Rwanda Balloon Safari & Akagera Wildlife Experience Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali City & transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, your guide or driver will pick you up and take you to Akagera National Park.
On the way, you will stop at the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Center to learn about the history and pay respect to those who lost their lives in the 1994 genocide between the Hutu and Tutsi.
Have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the park. On the drive to your lodge, you will spot animals such as elephants, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, water and bush bucks, and lions.
Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 2: Game drive & afternoon boat ride (Optional Balloon Ride)
Start early for a dawn game drive. This 3 to 4-hour drive gives you a chance to see nocturnal animals and other early risers.
You may see elephants, buffaloes, water and bush bucks, zebras, warthogs, lions, elands, topis, and big cats like leopards.
Return to the lodge for a hot lunch, then get ready for a boat ride on Lake Ihema. The boat ride offers great chances to photograph wildlife and birds along the lake’s shores.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali & departure
After breakfast and with memories of Akagera National Park, start your journey back to Kigali. On the way, you may see more wildlife as you leave the park.
Stop for lunch and visit some local markets to shop for souvenirs to take home.
