This 2-Day Mount Karisimbi Hiking Safari lets you climb one of the Virunga Mountains, called Karisimbi.
You will have a chance to see some of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga region, along with many plants, flowers, and shrubs.
During this Rwanda safari, you will also hear and see different birds and primates in Volcanoes National Park.
Detailed 2-Day Mount Karisimbi Climbing Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Hike to the base camp
Meet at the park headquarters in Kinigi in the morning around 8:00 am on the first day of your 2-Day Mount Karisimbi Hiking Safari.
After registration and a briefing from the park ranger, you will drive for about 40 minutes to Kwa Mukecuru Parking. This is the starting point of your hike.
After packing all your gear, you will start hiking at around 8:00 am with a park ranger guide and trackers. You can also hire porters if you want.
All this is to make your hike safer and more enjoyable.
You will stop at several points along the way and enjoy a packed lunch. You will spend the night at a camp located about 3,500 meters above sea level.
Day 2: Hike to the summit & descend
After an early breakfast at 5:00 am, you will continue hiking to the top of Karisimbi, which is 4,507 meters above sea level. It is the tallest volcano in the Virunga mountain range.
At the top, you can take photos and enjoy the views of two of the eight volcanoes. You will also see many different plants including trees, flowers, and shrubs.
After a short rest at the summit, you will hike back down to the camp for lunch.
Then, you will continue down the mountain, enjoying the quiet nature and good views of the park.
Your driver guide will take you back to Kigali city or the airport for your next flight.
