3 days Akagera national park takes you to Rwanda’s only savanna national park. You will have a game viewing experience the fact that Akagera national park offers the best game drive experiences in Rwanda. You will still have a boat ride on Lake Ihema to sights of the aquatic wildlife, a fresh breeze and a cool relaxation in the park.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera national park
At the airport, you will be received with one of experienced driver guides. First he will briefly take you through all the trip movements as he transfers you to Akagera national park. The 3 to 4 hour drive takes you through the rolling hills of Rwanda past magnificent green lush along the high way. You will have random stopovers at places of interest. Arrival at the lodge will be in the evening to just check in, wait for dinner and have an overnight.
Day 2: Full day game drive
In the morning after breakfast, drive to the northern sector of Akagera National Park; An area with lots of wildlife. Game drives here are ones that immediately expose you a variety of wildlife species in just a few minutes of the drive. You will see a lot of animals on your way. All the big five game animals; Lions, Leopards, Rhinoceros, Elephants, Cape Buffaloes are a common sight here. Other animals like the warthogs, zebras, topis, elands, water-bucks and more are also here. You will have picnic lunch in the bush and will return to your lodge in the evening.
Day 3: Departure
Early morning, have breakfast and relax at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This lake is one of the largest in the countey. A boat cruise on this magical lake rewards you with sights of hippopotamuses, giant crocodiles, various birds and other wildlife species that come along the lake to hydrate. After this boat ride, travel back to Kigali, either straight to the airport for your exit flight or to any hotel of your choice.
