Be part of a memorable wildlife safari in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park by joining our 3-day Akagera Wildlife Safari. Akagera National Park, found in the eastern part of Rwanda, is the country’s only savannah national park.
It is a good place to see the Big Five animals – rhinos, lions, elephants, leopards, and Cape buffaloes. You may also see antelopes like topis, kobs, Defassa waterbucks, oribis, common elands, and hartebeests. Other animals include Rothschild giraffes, warthogs, and many more.
Detailed 3-Day Akagera Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda & Drive to Akagera National Park
When you arrive in Rwanda, you will be picked up from Kigali International Airport and driven for about two hours to Akagera National Park in the eastern part of the country.
On the way, enjoy a short city tour of Kigali. You will then continue to the park and check in at your booked lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema.
After the boat ride, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park
Start your day early with a good breakfast before going for a game drive in the northern part of the park. This game drive lasts about 3 to 4 hours and ends in time for lunch, either at the lodge or as a picnic in the park.
In the afternoon, continue with a drive through the southern part of the park. You may see rhinos, topis, side-striped jackals, black and white colobus monkeys, lions, oribis, Cape buffaloes, kobs, serval cats, common elands, leopards, vervet monkeys, Rothschild giraffes, elephants, warthogs, olive baboons, Defassa waterbucks, and many other animals. At sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Final Game Drive & Return to Kigali
On the last day, enjoy breakfast and a final 2-hour game drive through the park. After the game drive, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali. Have lunch in the city and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight to the next destination.
