In the foothills of the eastern escarpment of Madagascar lies the Andasibe Wildlife Reserve, the most famous park in the country.
The park is home to eleven species of lemur, including the indri, the largest lemur, known for its loud call. You will also see well-camouflaged chameleons.
A visit to Lemur Island will give you a chance to spend time with Madagascar’s lemurs.
Day 1: Arrival & Travel to Andasibe
When you arrive in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, in the morning, you will meet your guide who will transfer you to your hotel.
You will begin with a short driving tour around the city before heading to Andasibe.
Along the way, you will pass green vegetation, humid forests, lakes, rice fields, waterfalls, and small forest stations. You will also see villages of the Merina people on the mountainside.
There will be a lunch stop at the Reptile and Butterfly Farm. Soon after, you will reach Andasibe.
To relax after the journey, you will go for a night walk in the area, where you may see lemurs and other animals active during the night.
Day 2: Explore Andasibe Reserve & Community Visit
After breakfast, you will visit the Andasibe Reserve. Your guide will help you search for the indri and other types of lemurs. You will also see orchids, forest canopy, chameleons, tenrecs, and birds.
The reserve is a special place to see many plant and animal species. In the afternoon, you will visit the V.O.I.I.M.A Community Reserve.
There, you will find more wildlife, including brown lemurs, indri, chameleons, geckos, and birds.
Day 3: Return to Antananarivo & Departure
This marks the end of your visit to Andasibe Wildlife Reserve. You will travel back to Antananarivo, where you will be taken to the airport for your flight home.
You will return with special memories of the lemurs and the beautiful nature of Madagascar.
