These 10 days combine two great experiences: exploring nature and wildlife at Andasibe National Park to see different lemur species, followed by relaxing on the beach at Nosy Komba.
You will stay in some of the most comfortable places near these popular tourist spots.
Day 1–3: Nosy Komba Island
On the first day, you arrive at Nosy Be Airport, where a friendly representative will meet you and take you to Hell City.
From there, you will take a boat to Tsara Komba Lodge on Nosy Komba, known as Lemur Island. You will stay here for three nights.
There are many activities to enjoy around the hotel and beach, such as visiting local villages, snorkeling, playing beach volleyball, racket ball, badminton, frisbee, canoe trips, reading, or playing indoor games.
Day 4: Flight to Andasibe
After breakfast, check out of Tsara Komba Lodge and transfer to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, you will be met and travel to Andasibe through green, lush areas.
You will see humid forests, lakes, rice fields, waterfalls, and small forests. On the way, you will pass villages of the Merina people on the mountain slopes.
After arriving at your hotel, you will go for a night walk to see lemurs and other animals that are active after dark.
Day 5: Andasibe Reserve & V.O.I.I.M.A Reserve
After a good breakfast, visit the Andasibe Reserve with your guide. Look for the indri, the largest lemurs in Madagascar, and enjoy seeing many orchids, trees, and animals like chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds.
In the afternoon, visit the V.O.I.I.M.A community reserve where you can see brown lemurs, indri, chameleons, geckos, and birds.
Day 6: Return to Antananarivo
After breakfast, start your return to Antananarivo. On the way, stop for lunch (at your own cost) at the Reptile and Butterfly Farm.
Antananarivo, known as the ‘City of Thousands,’ is where the first king began uniting Madagascar’s kingdoms.
Spend the afternoon touring the city before checking into your comfortable hotel.
Day 7: Flight to Fort Dauphin & Journey to Antandroy Spiny Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Ivato Airport for a two-hour flight to Fort Dauphin on Madagascar’s southeast coast. Your guide will meet you and take you for lunch in Fort Dauphin.
Then, you will drive about three hours to the Antandroy Spiny Forest (a charter flight from Fort Dauphin is available for extra cost).
You will see rice fields, tropical plants, thick forests, dry areas with sisal plantations, and the spiny forest.
In the evening, relax at your luxury tented camp by the Mandrare River.
Day 8: Antandroy Forest Tour & Activities
Enjoy breakfast and then cross the river on foot for a tour of the Antandroy forest. You will see lemurs, many bird species, and tombs of the Antandroy ancestors.
Your guide will explain the local culture of ancestor worship. Return to camp for a buffet lunch.
After lunch, enjoy free time to relax by the river or join activities like visiting the giant sand dunes of Lake Anony, watching the sunset by baobab trees, night walks in the forest, seeing lemurs and birds, watching traditional dancers, or visiting a nearby village or school.
Day 9: Free Day to Explore
Use this day to choose from many exciting activities near your camp. Your guide can help pick what suits your interests.
The best time for outdoor activities is in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat.
The camp is in the middle of beautiful forests where, with a guide, you can enjoy the true beauty of nature.
Day 10: Return Home
On your last day, say goodbye to the beautiful forests where lemurs and other wild animals live, and to the lovely beaches.
You will travel back to Fort Dauphin, then fly to Antananarivo to connect with your flight home. You will carry wonderful memories that will stay with you for life.
