Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Serengeti National Park
You will be picked up from any location in Arusha and begin your journey to Serengeti National Park. First, you will receive a short briefing about the safari. Then you will drive for 7 to 8 hours, with stops for lunch along the way. When you reach the park, enjoy a short game drive as you head to your lodge.
Animals you may see during this drive include cheetahs, lions, and serval cats. You can also see elephants, wildebeests, and Masai giraffes. Other residents like spotted hyenas, waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, and leopards live here too. You may also spot elands, topis, zebras, and gazelles. Check in at the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, head out for a full day game drive in the rich wildlife areas of Serengeti National Park. This is a main part of the 7-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Serengeti Wildlife Safari. You may see the Big Five, many types of antelopes, birds, and other animals. You will take a lunch break between the drives to rest and enjoy your meal in the wild. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing
After breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, another famous safari spot in Tanzania. Take your packed lunch with you and enjoy it when you arrive. Then go on a game drive inside the crater.
This area is home to many animals including topis, elands, and waterbucks. You may also see lions, cheetahs, and leopards. In the afternoon, visit a nearby Maasai village to learn about their culture and how they live with the animals. After this activity, return to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 4: Game drive in Tarangire National Park and return to Arusha
After breakfast, head to Tarangire National Park for a half day game drive. The drive from Ngorongoro to Tarangire takes about 2 to 3 hours. Enter the park and begin the game drive, where you may see zebras, elephants, and Rothschild giraffes. You can also look for lions and hippos near the river. After enjoying your packed lunch, continue your journey to Arusha Town for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 5: Flight to Kigali and drive to Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, then transfer to the airport in Arusha for your flight to Kigali, Rwanda. This flight moves you from the plains to the mountains. When you arrive in Kigali, your guide will meet you and begin the drive to Volcanoes National Park in the northwest of the country. This drive shows you the beautiful hills of Rwanda.
Day 6: Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, go to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration and a briefing. This is the most exciting day of the 7-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking & Serengeti Wildlife Safari. You will be assigned to a gorilla group before starting your trek at 8:00 am. The trek takes you into the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains.
The search for the gorillas can take from 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on where they are. Once found, you will spend one hour with them, watching them and taking pictures. Afterward, return to the park headquarters and drive back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardian Village to enjoy a Rwandan cultural experience with music and dance.
Day 7: Return to Kigali and departure
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali City. If you have time, you can visit the local markets or a museum. You will then be dropped off at the airport or your hotel. This marks the end of your great adventure.
