Detailed 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas and Masai Mara Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Bwindi National Park from Kampala or Entebbe
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You will begin the journey to Bwindi National Park. This park is known around the world for its mountain gorillas. The drive is long but you will see many interesting things along the way. Lunch will be served at a restaurant on the road. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up early for breakfast and get ready for your gorilla trekking experience. This is the most exciting day of the 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas and Masai Mara safari. You will first have a briefing by the park rangers at the headquarters. They will tell you how to behave near the gorillas. Then you will start the walk into the thick forest.
During the walk, you may also see red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, and other animals. The trek can take between 5 and 8 hours. This depends on where the gorillas spent the night. Once you find them, you will spend one hour watching them and taking photos. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relax for the rest of the day.
Day 3: Community Tour and Drive Back to Kampala
After breakfast, visit the Batwa community. These people used to live inside the forest. You will watch their dances, listen to their stories, and learn about their daily life. You can also support them by buying handmade crafts. After the visit, start the drive back to Kampala. You will stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. In the evening, your driver will drop you off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
Day 4: Fly to Masai Mara
Have your last breakfast in Uganda. Then your guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Masai Mara in Kenya. On arrival, meet your new driver guide. He will explain the plans for the next two days. In the evening, go for your first game drive in the Mara plains. You will start looking for big animals immediately. After the game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and sleep.
Day 5: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, spend the whole day exploring Masai Mara. This is a very important part of the 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas and Masai Mara safari. You may see lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos. You can also see giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. If your visit is during the migration season, you may witness the famous wildebeest migration. You will have a picnic lunch in the park to save time for more animal viewing.
Day 6: Drive to Nairobi and Fly Home
After breakfast, leave Masai Mara. You will enjoy a game drive on the way out of the park. This is your last chance to see the animals. Then you will continue the drive to Nairobi city. You will be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home. This marks the end of your 6 day safari adventure.
