Detailed 9-Day Gorillas, Nakuru, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet our company representative at the pick up point. After a short talk, you will start a 3 to 4 hour journey to Volcanoes National Park. You will see views of the hills, green plants, busy towns, and local homes in the countryside. When you arrive, you will check in to your lodge for some refreshment and a good meal. You can then take a nap before it gets dark.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
Get your energy ready in the morning with a cup of coffee. From the breakfast table, you will pick up your packed lunch and your trekking gear. You will head to the park headquarters where the ranger guide will tell you the rules for trekking. Mountain gorillas are only found in three countries: Uganda, Rwanda, and D.R. Congo.
These animals have about 98% human like DNA and are used to having people around. Gorilla trekking is done on foot and can last between 1 to 8 hours through the forest. As you walk through the bush, you have the chance of spotting unique birds, monkeys, and forest animals. Once you find the gorillas, you will have lunch and then return to the lodge to rest. Your day ends with dinner and a stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Fly from Kigali to Lake Nakuru National Park
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge. After that, check out and go to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Nairobi. When you land, you will meet our representative who will tell you what to expect in Kenya.
Depending on when you arrive, you will have lunch and then get on the road to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will see the beautiful landscape, green plantations, and busy towns on the way. You will arrive at your lodge at sunset. You can enjoy dinner and then go to sleep to prepare for the next day of your 9-Day Gorillas, Nakuru, Serengeti-Ngorongoro Safari.
Day 4: Wildlife safari in Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will go out to see the pink flamingos and many water birds. On a lucky day, you can see both hunters and the animals they hunt in the savannah grassland. These include elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, and waterbucks. You might also see warthogs, jackals, and other animals. You will have lunch after the first activities. Dinner ends the day before you go to sleep.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi and fly to Tanzania
Breakfast will be served at 9:00 am. Next, you will depart for the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. You will drive to Nairobi for lunch and then go to the airport. You will take a flight to Arusha or fly directly into the Serengeti if a flight is available. There, you will meet our representative who will tell you about what Tanzania has to offer. You will then start the road trip to the Serengeti, arriving at sunset for dinner and sleep.
Day 6: Game drive and Masai Mara cultural tour
After breakfast, you will have a 3 to 4 hour game drive around the Serengeti plains. This place has a beautiful landscape and many types of plants and animals. You will have a great time with your camera taking nature photos. You might see lions, wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. You can also spot leopards, many birds, and monkeys.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch. This will be followed by a cultural tour with Masai warriors. You will listen to stories about how they keep cattle and join in some of their activities. At sunset, you will end the day at the lodge with dinner.
Day 7: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
The first thing to do today is enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge. Around 11:00 am, you will start the journey to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will stop at the historical Olduvai Gorge to learn about the history of man. You will see fossils of early humans believed to be the oldest in the world.
Lunch will be on the way, and you will arrive at your lodge in the afternoon. You can spend the last hours of the day resting in the gardens or taking a guided nature walk at the top of the crater. This is one of the largest calderas in the world. The day ends with dinner.
Day 8: Full day game drive
After a sunrise breakfast, you will spend the entire day exploring the Ngorongoro grassland. On a lucky day, you will see the magnificent crater and many animal hideouts. You can encounter lions, buffaloes, zebras, and gazelles. You may also see wildebeests, rhinoceros, warthogs, and waterbucks. You will have a picnic lunch in the wild and return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and sleep. This is the final full day of your 9-Day Gorillas, Nakuru, Serengeti-Ngorongoro Safari.
Day 9: Departure
After breakfast, you will leave the Ngorongoro Crater. You will be driven to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. You can also choose to head to Zanzibar if you want more holiday time.
