Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Nairobi city tour
Upon landing at the airport, our company driver guide will meet and greet you. He will usher you to a magical nation with a large variety of plants and animals. After the meeting, a glass of juice or coffee will be served. If you arrive early, there will be a one hour city tour. You will visit the National Museum and the local markets to purchase any missing items for your trip. Later, you will go to the lodge for dinner and stay the night.
Day 2: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Kick start your day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge. You will then embark on a road trip to Amboseli National Park. Experience a drive on both paved roads and dirt roads as you move from the urban city to the rural part of the country. The journey alone is a great experience. It is an opportunity to appreciate the way of life of the local people. There will be some stopovers to talk with the natives. You can purchase some street foods if you wish. Lunch is eaten on the way. You will arrive at the lodge in the park in the evening for dinner and sleep.
Day 3: Game drive and nature walks in Amboseli
Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast. This will be followed by a 3 to 4 hour game drive beneath the shadows of Mountain Kilimanjaro. The park is dominated by giant African elephants. Others on the check list of animals to see are warthogs, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, leopards, and lions. Birds, reptiles, and primates can all come your way before the day ends. Later, return to the lodge for lunch. In the evening, you will take a guided nature walk to have a clear view of Mountain Kilimanjaro at a distance. End the day with dinner and sleep.
Day 4: Amboseli to Lake Nakuru
Today, you will wake up for breakfast. At 8:00 am, the journey to Lake Nakuru National Park starts. You will pass through busy towns and flat plains with many plantations. You will have a lunch stopover in Nairobi. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening for refreshment and a night stay after dinner. This is a key transition day in your 15-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari.
Day 5: Birding and explore Lake Nakuru
Wake up very early in the morning for a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge. You will spend the day studying birds and plants. When an opportunity arrives, feel free to plant and name a tree. This is part of the conservation activities in this park. This safari runs the entire day with lunch in the wilderness. Lake Nakuru is dominated by pink flamingos. They are accompanied by many other water birds. At sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 6: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara
Kick start your day with a delicious breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter, you will transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will spend about 4 to 5 hours on the road. Appreciate the beautiful landscape, the green vegetation, and the locals doing trade. As you talk with your driver guide, you will have a lunch stop. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and sleep.
Day 7: Game drive and Cultural encounter
A cup of coffee comes first and then a 3 to 4 hour game drive experience begins. You will go through the vast savannah grassland. Here you can encounter numerous hippos, lions, zebras, and elephants. You might also see warthogs, ostriches, and vultures on a good day. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch. The evening is set for a cultural encounter with the Masai Warriors. They are famous hunters and gatherers. They will show you their dance, teach you about cattle keeping, and tell stories about their farms. End the day with dinner.
Day 8: Masai Mara to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park
Kick start your day with breakfast. Afterward, you will depart the Republic of Kenya for Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is a road trip taking about 7 to 9 hours. You will stop for lunch and cross the border at the Isebania post. You will arrive in Serengeti National Park in the evening. You can view the sunset and see how the local traders end their day. End this day with dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 9: Half day game drive
Wake up very early in the morning to capture the beautiful savannah sunrise. You will go to meet the night hunters returning to their hideouts. You will also see the day grazers looking for fresh grass. It is all about luck to see these animals. The list includes hippos, cheetahs, warthogs, leopards, and zebras. You might also see wildebeests, vultures, and monkeys. Your camera and binoculars will be busy from start to finish. You will enjoy a breakfast in the bush and return by lunch time. The evening is free for relaxation by the camp fire.
Day 10: Bird watching and sunset game drive
Start your day at the call of the birds. At 7:00 am, you should be up with your binoculars. With an experienced birding guide, you will go for a 4 to 5 hour birding experience. You will seek to know the birds by their name and habitat. The ranger guides will help you walk through the swamps and trees. Afterward, you return to the lodge to relax and have lunch. At about 5:00 pm, there will be a 3 to 4 hour sunset game drive. You will look for animals as they return home and those that come out in the dark, like lions and hyenas. Retire to bed after dinner.
Day 11: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
At day break, you will have a delicious breakfast at the lodge. Thereafter, you will check out for a transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will arrive after 3 to 4 hours. The route to Ngorongoro is marked by beautiful landscapes and small villages. Feel free to purchase some handmade items in the country side. Arrive and check in to your lodge for lunch. You can choose to rest or have an evening walk in the community. Dinner and sleep will come last.
Day 12: Full day game drive
This day, you will have breakfast first thing at the lodge. Then you will go for a full day game drive in the wilderness. You will have a picnic lunch and drive across the plains. It is not a guarantee to see every animal, but many will come your way. You might see them grazing, hunting, or giving birth. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and rhinos are all part of the list to look for. You will also see buffaloes, elephants, and many birds. This day ends with dinner and a peaceful sleep.
Day 13: Fly to Mahale Mountains
At day break, you will depart Ngorongoro Crater for Arusha. From there, you will fly directly to the Mahale Mountains. The flight takes about 1 to 2 hours to the western part of Tanzania. Upon arrival, our driver guide will welcome you. You will see hills and lush vegetation on your way to the park. You will arrive and proceed to the lodge for check in and dinner. This is a very remote and special part of the 15-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari.
Day 14: Chimpanzee trekking adventure
At day break, you will enjoy your breakfast. Thereafter, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a 30 minute briefing. Chimpanzees possess over 98% human like DNA. You can see this in their social life. Together with a guide, you will walk through the forest for 1 to 4 hours to find them. There are over 900 chimpanzees here. After finding them, you will see where they sleep and listen to their sounds. After this adventure, you will have lunch and a free evening at the lodge.
Day 15: Departure
After breakfast, you will fly from Mahale Mountains National Park to Dar es Salaam. From there, you will depart for your next destination. You will have some time to tour around the city if your flight is late at night.
