Your driver guide will pick you up from Nairobi at any agreed point. You will then head to Amboseli National Park. This is a protected wildlife area that covers 392 square kilometers. This park is very amazing because it offers a great view of Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. It is also famous for its large herds of elephants.
As you drive through the park, you will see giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, warthogs, and gazelles. There are also hundreds of bird species to find here. Depending on the time you arrive, you can opt to take a game drive in the evening. This is a perfect way to witness the beauty of the park as the sun sets. Later, you will head to your reserved lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Full day game drive in Amboseli
Spend a full day here in the park taking two main game drives. You will go out in the morning and again in the evening. In between these drives, you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch and some leisure time.
These game drives will allow you to spot many animals. Look for leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, and buffaloes. You will also see elephants, giraffes, lions, and crocodiles. Smaller animals like the mongoose, hyrax, dik-dik, and lesser kudu also live here. Throughout the day, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt Kilimanjaro with its snow cap at the summit.
Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
Immediately after breakfast, you will fly to Masai Mara National Reserve. This flight takes about 1 to 2 hours. The Masai Mara, often called the Mara, is located in Narok County. It neighbors the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
This reserve is famous for hosting the annual wildebeest migration. It is also home to a large number of wild animals. You can see lions, leopards, rhinos, zebras, and hippos. You will also spot elephants and buffaloes. When you arrive, your guide will take you to your safari lodge in the wilderness to check in. This is a major highlight of your 10-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari.
Day 4: Full day game drive in Masai Mara
Today you will discover the different corners of the Masai Mara plains. Through game drives, you will have a chance to witness the annual migration of millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras. The best spots to visit are the Mara and Talek Rivers. These rivers are good hubs for wild animals because they are the only water sources where animals go to quench their thirst.
You will enjoy seeing elephants, lions, and rhinos. You will also see crocodiles and hippos in the water. On the land, you can find cheetahs, gazelles, giraffes, monkeys, and warthogs. The wide open plains make it easy to see the animals from a distance.
Day 5: Cross to Tanzania for Serengeti National Park Safari
Have breakfast while you think about the beautiful moments you have had in Kenya. Today you leave for Tanzania to visit Serengeti National Park. This park is related to the Masai Mara because they both host the annual wildebeest migration. The animals move between these two parks looking for fresh grass. You will arrive in the Serengeti and head to your lodge in the middle of the wilderness for the night.
Day 6 and 7: Game drives in Serengeti
Spend these two interesting days in the plains of the Serengeti. You will witness the beauty of the park as you enjoy nature through game drives. You will reach all corners of the park, including the Grumeti River. This river is a main water source for the animals.
There is a lot to explore here, such as the big cats and the big five animals. You will see both small and large mammals and many different bird species.
