Detailed 7-Day South Africa Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park – Kruger game drive at 4:00 PM

A professional guide will pick you up from your Johannesburg hotel in a comfortable vehicle. The drive to Kruger National Park takes about 4 hours and 39 minutes.

When you arrive at the park, go to your lodge to relax. Enjoy views of the wild area and any animals near the lodge. A very good lunch will be served later in the afternoon.

Start your game drive at 4:00 PM in the park. This is a great chance to see rare animals in this beautiful area. Drive through the grasslands, home to many animals. You might see African Bush elephants, buffaloes, leopards, jackals, servals, hippos, spotted hyenas, hartebeests, common genets, common warthogs, and eland.

Return to the lodge at sunset to relax. A tasty dinner will be served later, and you will stay overnight.

Day 2: Panorama Route & Blyde River boat trip

Enjoy a good breakfast early. Then, start exploring the Panorama Route. Enjoy seeing the views from the hills. From the top, you can see Graskop village and the area around it. It’s a great place for photos.

Go back down to the lodge around midday for a tasty lunch. This will give you energy for the afternoon.

Take a boat trip on the Blyde River. This trip lets you see more of the area’s beauty. You will see plants along the river and animals nearby. You can also watch birds, as many come to the river to feed. Look for African fish eagles, African paradise flycatchers, yellow-billed oxpeckers, sunbirds, Abyssinian ground hornbills, black bee-eaters, cinnamons, egrets, hamerkops, African darters, hadada ibis, green turacos, and piapiacs.

Go back to the lodge in the evening. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Full day game drives in Kruger National Park

Guests will have a good breakfast very early at the lodge. Then, go on a sunrise game drive in the beautiful national park. Look for different landscapes and animals, especially meat-eaters like lions, leopards, jackals, caracals, and common genets. These animals often hunt in the early morning, which is a good time to see them.

Use this time to see animals all morning. Around midday, go back to the lodge for a tasty lunch.

After lunch, go on an afternoon game drive. This gives you more chances to see animals and birds in the park.

Return to the lodge at sunset. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Fly from Kruger National Park to Cape Town

Start the day with a good breakfast at the lodge. Then, drive to Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport for your flight to Cape Town.

When you arrive in Cape Town, drive to the V&A Waterfront. This is a famous place offering nice experiences. Here, you can play, shop, relax, and eat.

Enjoy a tasty lunch at a waterfront restaurant in the afternoon. After lunch, drive to the Two Oceans Aquarium. This is a great chance to see many types of fish and sea life from the Atlantic Ocean. Take photos to remember your trip.

In the evening, drive to the Castle Museum to learn about South Africa’s history. See the old objects there. Later in the evening, drive back to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 5: Cape Town Peninsula Tour

Have a good breakfast at the hotel at sunrise. After breakfast, drive to the Cape Peninsula.

Here, you can do exciting activities. The trip mentions skydiving, which can be an exciting part of the day. Enjoy this activity all morning. Then, go back to the hotel around midday to relax and have a tasty lunch.

After lunch, go to the beach areas to see penguins. Enjoy watching the penguins and other beautiful birds. This is great for photos and videos. Relax on the beach in the evening. You could play beach soccer and watch the sun set over the lovely ocean.

Drive back to the hotel in the evening. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Table Mountain & Cape Town city tour

Drive to Table Mountain for a hike up to Louis head point. The hike takes about 3 hours. At the top, you can see great views and take photos. Enjoy this experience all morning. The walk back down takes about 2 hours.

Drive back to the hotel for a tasty lunch served by the staff.

In the afternoon, take a Cape Town city tour. Visit local markets and malls like Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre and Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village. Enjoy shopping for souvenirs and other items.

Drive back to the hotel at sunset. Have dinner, enjoy Cape Town’s nightlife, and stay overnight.

Day 7: Flight back to Johannesburg

Have a good early breakfast at your hotel. Check out after breakfast and drive to Cape Town International Airport. Catch your flight to Johannesburg. This ends the tour.
