4 days Toubkal trek

During our four-day Mount Toubkal trip, you will hike through remote mountain areas and visit important places in the High Atlas Mountains like the Sidi Chamarouch shrine, the Imlil Valley (1,740m), and the summit of Mount Toubkal.

The drive to Imlil Valley, where the trek begins, takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. When you arrive, our local team will welcome you. Then, you will go to a guesthouse for a cup of mint tea and a map presentation for the four-day Toubkal trek.

After that, you will take a short hike to help your body adjust to the altitude. You will climb to the Tizi Mzik pass at 2,489 meters and stop there for a hot lunch.

After lunch, you will walk back down the same path to your lodge in Imlil, where you will spend the night. This hike will take around 4 hours.

After breakfast at the lodge, you will begin your hike through the Ait Mizane Valley. You will pass through the village of Aremd before reaching the Sidi Chamarouch shrine, a place visited by both tourists and pilgrims.

Only Muslims can cross the stone bridge to visit the shrine. The village, built next to a small waterfall, looks like a group of houses all packed closely together. You will stop for lunch along the way.

From here, the path goes uphill in curves until you reach the Toubkal Refuge at 3,206 meters, where you will spend the night. This day’s hike takes about five to six hours.

After an early breakfast, you will try to reach the top of Jebel Toubkal. The path goes through a rocky area above the refuge and across one of the many stone-covered slopes on the mountain.

The trail is not too steep, but the high altitude and loose stones can make the walk harder. Still, it is worth the effort for the views. From the summit, you will see the High Atlas Mountains.

After a short rest at the top, you will walk back to the refuge using the same path. You will have lunch there and spend another night. The walk will take six to seven hours.

On the last day, you will hike back down the same path to Imlil. After lunch at a guesthouse, you will drive back to Marrakech. The walk takes four to five hours, and the drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil (1,740m). 1.5 hours drive + 4 hours walk

At 8:30 am, your local guide will meet you and drive you to Imlil Valley. After checking in at the guesthouse, you will hike up to the Tizi Mzik Pass (2,489m).

You will stop for a hot lunch, then walk back down to the lodge in Imlil where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Imlil (1,740m) – Toubkal Refuge (3,207m). 5 to 6 hours walk

After breakfast, you will walk down the Mizane Valley toward Aremd village and then to the Sidi Chamarouch shrine. Aremd sits on a rocky hill and is the largest village in the valley.

The villagers farm crops like walnuts, potatoes, and corn. The trail goes along mule paths and then uphill into the rocky cliffs.

After crossing the river, you will arrive at the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. From there, the path winds uphill to the Toubkal Refuge (3,206m), where you will sleep.

Day 3: Refuge (3,207m) – Toubkal Summit (4,167m) – Refuge (3,207m). 5 to 7 hours walk

After an early breakfast, you will try to reach the top of Jebel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. The trail goes through rocky slopes and a wide stone field.

Although the walk is not steep, the altitude and stones make it more difficult.

After reaching the ridge, you will walk a short distance to the summit. From the top, you can see far across the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara to the south, and the Marrakech Plain and High Atlas to the north.

After a short break, you will return to the refuge for lunch and another night.

Day 4: Refuge (3,207m) – Imlil (1,740m) – Marrakech

You will walk back down to Imlil on the same path. After lunch at a lodge in Imlil, you will drive back to Marrakech.
