3 days Toubkal Trek in the Atlas Mountains

Take part in our 3-day Toubkal hike from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains. On this hike to Mount Toubkal, you will pass through Berber villages and the high Atlas Mountains.

During this 3-day Toubkal trip, you will climb Mount Toubkal and visit places like the Imlil Valley, the Toubkal Massif, the Sidi Chamharouch shrine, and the summit of Jbel Toubkal.

The trek begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech. You will drive to Imlil Valley, which is 1,740 meters above sea level. The drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

When you arrive in the valley, our local team will meet you. The team includes mule drivers and an English-speaking guide who will lead your hike.

You will first be welcomed with a cup of mint tea at a guesthouse. After that, your guide will show you the route on a map and you will start walking toward the base camp.

After about two hours, you will stop for lunch near the Sidi Chamharouch shrine. From there, you will continue walking uphill until you reach the refuge, where you will spend the night. This hike will take about five to six hours.

The next morning, after an early breakfast at the refuge, you will begin your climb to the summit. The trail goes uphill and can be difficult. It usually takes about three hours to reach the top.

From the summit, you will have wide views of the High Atlas Mountains. After a short break at the top, you will walk back down the same way to the base camp.

Lunch will be served there, and you will spend another night at the refuge. This day’s hike takes six to seven hours.

On your last day, you will have breakfast and walk back down to Imlil. There, you will eat lunch at a guesthouse before driving back to Marrakech. The walk takes about four to five hours, plus a 1.5-hour drive.

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil (1,740m) – Toubkal Refuge (3,207m)

You will then continue up steep paths to reach the refuge at the base of Mount Toubkal. You will spend the night there. The walk takes about four to five hours.

Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) – Toubkal Summit (4,167m) – Refuge (3,207m)
