After a quick airport pickup, enjoy a full-day tour of some of Addis Ababa’s main sights. Arrive in the morning and start exploring the city. One of the places you will visit is Merkato, a large open-air market.
You will have a delicious lunch and visit St. George Cathedral, a 15th-century church and important Rastafarian site. You will also enjoy views of Ethiopia’s capital from Entoto.

- Ethnological Museum: Located inside Addis Ababa University, we will visit the Ethnographic Museum. It has a large collection of everyday objects and artifacts from many of Ethiopia’s ethnic groups. This museum is different from the National Museum but just as interesting.
- National Museum of Ethiopia: This museum is famous for housing the remains of Lucy, an Australopithecus who lived about 3.2 million years ago and is an ancestor of modern humans. You will see a cast of her bones, as the original is kept elsewhere.
- Lunch at Itegue Taitu Hotel: Enjoy lunch at Ethiopia’s oldest hotel, founded in 1898 E.C. You can order from the menu or try the popular vegan buffet. Experience the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony here.
- Market Place: After lunch, continue the city tour with a visit to Merkato, Africa’s biggest open-air market. You will find nearly every kind of product for sale. Explore the market and enjoy the local culture.
- Holy Trinity Cathedral: Visit one of the most important religious sites in Addis Ababa. Learn about Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity while admiring the unique architecture, stained glass windows, small museum, and the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie I.
- St. George’s Cathedral: Next, visit one of the oldest churches in Addis Ababa, known for its bright colors and rich history.
- City Drive: End the day with a drive around the city to see famous buildings, monuments, and statues along Addis Ababa’s main streets.
