16-DAY ADVENTURE AND BEACH IN THE WEST   AND NOSY BE–

During this trip, you will get a great chance to learn more about Madagascar. This island has many different landscapes, national parks like Tsingy of Bemaraha, Kirindy Private Reserve, Peyrieras Reserve, the beauty of Nosy Be, and the rainforest of Andasibe National Park.

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo

Welcome to Antananarivo and Madagascar. You will arrive at Ivato Airport where your guide will meet you. You will be warmly welcomed and then taken to your comfortable hotel near the airport.

Here you can relax and enjoy the views of Madagascar’s capital city.

Day 2: Travel to Miandrivazo

After breakfast, you will start your trip to Miandrivazo. On the way, you will stop at Ambatolampy, a town known for its pot workshops and foundry.

After a short visit, continue to Antsirabe, then on to Miandrivazo, known for its warm weather and typical Malagasy community.

Day 3: Journey to Morondava & Kirindy Forest

From Miandrivazo, head west to Morondava, home of the Sakalava people and their famous baobab trees. You will pass through small villages before arriving in Morondava.

The road to Kirindy connects Morondava to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Kirindy Forest is famous for the fosa, Madagascar’s largest carnivore.

You can see this animal in its natural home. In the evening, you can take a night walk in the reserve.

Day 4: Travel to Bekopaka

After breakfast, you will leave for Bekopaka. The trip to Tsingy de Bemaraha is rough but exciting. You will cross the Belo sur Tsiribihina river by ferry at Tsimafana.

You will arrive at Bekopaka late in the afternoon.

Day 5: Visit to Tsingy de Bemaraha

Today, you will visit the Tsingy de Bemaraha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ‘tsingy’ are sharp limestone peaks forming a unique landscape.

In the afternoon, you can relax or explore on your own. There is an optional trip to the Little Tsingy, which includes a pirogue ride on the river to see caves and Sakalava tombs.

Day 6: Return to Morondava & Alley of Baobabs

After breakfast, travel back to Morondava and cross the Belo sur Tsiribihina River again. In the evening, visit the Alley of Baobabs at sunset.

The light at this time is perfect for photos as the tall trunks glow orange. Then return to Morondava for the night.

Day 7: Sunrise at Baobab Alley & Drive to Antsirabe

Start the day by watching the sunrise at Baobab Alley. Then take a short tour of Morondava city, which was once the center of the Sakalava kingdom.

After the tour, drive back to Antsirabe, passing several villages along the way. You will arrive in the afternoon and check in to your hotel.

Day 8: City Tour of Antsirabe & Return to Antananarivo

After breakfast, take a city tour in Antsirabe by rickshaw. Visit workshops where local crafts are made, including jewelry from zebu horn and toys from old tin cans.

Then travel back to Antananarivo with a stop at Ambatolampy, known for metalwork and cast aluminum souvenirs. On arrival in Tana, check in to your hotel.

Day 9: Travel to Tamatave & Visit Madagascar Exotic

After breakfast, take the National Road 2 to Tamatave. Stop at Madagascar Exotic, a farm where they breed butterflies, chameleons, and reptiles that are in danger because of fires and deforestation.

In the evening, enjoy a night walk with a local guide.

Day 10: Visit to Andasibe National Park & Vakona Reserve

Visit Andasibe National Park, home of the Indri-Indri, the largest lemur. You will also see other lemurs, chameleons, and many birds. The forest has many orchids, rosewood, and medicinal plants.

In the afternoon, visit Vakona Private Reserve.

Day 11: Return to Antananarivo

After breakfast, leave the rainforest and drive back to Antananarivo. Enjoy the green landscapes and thick forests on the way.

Once in Tana, check in to your hotel near the airport for your flight the next day.

Day 12: Flight to Nosy Be & Arrival

After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Antananarivo, depending on your flight schedule. Then transfer to the airport for your flight to Nosy Be.

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to your hotel to rest and relax.

Day 13: Nosy Tanikely Marine Park & Nosy Komba

Visit Nosy Tanikely Marine Park and Nosy Komba. Nosy Komba is a small island with beautiful beaches and forest. You can scuba dive and see fish, dolphins, sharks, whales, puffer fish, and three species of turtles.

Relax on the beach or climb to the lighthouse to see lemurs. Nosy Komba is famous for black lemurs living in the forest near the village of Ambarovato, where you can see embroidery napkins for sale.

Day 14: Visit to Nosy Iranja

Visit Nosy Iranja, known for quiet beaches and sea turtles that lay eggs almost every day. Walk through the forest to a deserted beach.

You can also go fishing around the islands of Iranja Kelly and Iranja, joined by a white sandbar.

Day 15: Leisure Day in Nosy Be

Spend the day at your leisure enjoying the calm beaches of Nosy Be, which means Big Island. You can take part in hotel activities or simply rest and relax.

Day 16: Departure

Spend your last morning in Madagascar as you wish, depending on your flight time. Then transfer to the international airport for check-in and say goodbye to Madagascar.
