Detailed Uganda Wildlife, Balloon Safari & Rhino Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Leave Kampala early in the morning at around 8:00 am and begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. This park is one of the most special in Uganda.
It has two types of vegetation: open savannah in the north and woodland forest in the south, divided by the River Nile.
About two hours from Kampala, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos in their natural habitat. This is the only place in Uganda where you can do rhino trekking.
Continue the drive to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through open flatlands, hills, and green vegetation.
You will also stop at roadside markets to buy fresh fruits to enjoy during your game drive the next day.
Day 2: Game drive & boat cruise
Wake up early and go for a morning game drive in the savannah area of Murchison Falls National Park. You may see giraffes, warthogs, buffaloes, lions, jackals, olive baboons, and other animals.
Have breakfast in the wild near a hippo pool, where you can enjoy coffee while watching hippos.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the River Nile. This cruise will bring you close to many hippos, crocodiles, and birds. You may also see elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes that come to drink water along the riverbanks.
After the boat cruise, return to the lodge in the evening. You will also have a great view of the waterfall from the river.
On this day, you can choose to go for an optional hot air balloon experience.
Day 3: Visit the top of the falls & return to Kampala
After breakfast, drive to the top of the falls. This spot gives you beautiful views and is perfect for photos and videos.
After visiting the falls, you will drive back to Kampala or be dropped at the airport. This marks the end of your 3-day Murchison Falls National Park Safari.
