Detailed 6-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Masai Mara Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Twin Lakes Tour
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where a guide will meet you and drive you to Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes about two hours. You will see many hills and local villages along the way. When you arrive, check in at the lodge, have a good lunch, and relax.
In the afternoon, visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. At the lakes, enjoy sightseeing, bird watching, and photography until sunset. These lakes are very calm and beautiful. Then return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Tour
Begin the day with an early breakfast. After breakfast, meet the rangers for a short briefing about the gorilla tracking rules. Then enter the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. The tracking may take about six hours. You will have a chance to see the gorillas up close in their natural home. This is a main highlight of the 6-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Masai Mara Safari.
Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn about the Banyarwanda people. Here, you can taste traditional food, enjoy dances, and listen to stories. This visit helps you understand the local culture and how people live near the park. After sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Drive Back to Kigali and Fly to Nairobi, Kenya
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then drive back to Kigali. This drive takes about two and a half hours. Go straight to the airport for your flight to Nairobi. When you arrive in Nairobi, our team will transfer you to your hotel.
Check in and have lunch. After lunch, relax and enjoy views of the city or use the hotel swimming pool. This is a good time to rest before the next part of your adventure. Dinner will be served in the evening before you rest for the night.
Day 4: Fly to Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast at the hotel, take a flight to Masai Mara. The flight takes about one hour and twenty minutes. Flying over the land gives you a great view of the landscape below.
On arrival, check in at the lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, go horseback riding through the reserve. This is a unique way to see wild animals and enjoy the natural surroundings. Ride until sunset, then return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara
After breakfast, go for a game drive in the northern part of Masai Mara. This area is home to the Big Five and many wildebeests. You will look for lions, leopards, and elephants. Return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy another game drive in the Mara Triangle, which is in the western part of the reserve. You may see animals like buffaloes and black rhinos. The wide plains are full of life. After the drive, return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 6: Flight to Nairobi and Departure
