Detailed 3-Day Bwindi Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
If you are starting your trip from Entebbe, your journey to Bwindi will take about 8 to 9 hours by road. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator for photos and visit the Igongo Cultural Center for lunch. You will drive through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale to reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
If you prefer starting from Kigali, you will cross into Uganda using the Katuna border in Kabale or the Cyanika border in Kisoro. This route takes about 3 to 5 hours by road. Before leaving Kigali, you will enjoy a short city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. After that, you will drive to Bwindi in the afternoon.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park
After an early breakfast, arrive at the Bwindi park headquarters by 7:00 am for a briefing. You will learn about the rules for gorilla trekking, be grouped into a team of eight people, and be assigned a park ranger guide.
The trek can take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on how long it takes to find the gorilla group. Once you find them, you will spend one hour with the gorillas. After the trek, return to receive a certificate. Later in the evening, take part in the Batwa community experience and learn about their culture.
Day 3: Return to Entebbe or Kigali
On the last day, you will travel back depending on your plan. You can drive to Entebbe after breakfast, stopping for lunch and taking photos at the Equator in Kayabwe. You will then be dropped off at your hotel in Entebbe.
